The game "London" traces the period from the Great Fire of London in 1666 to the beginning of the 20th century. In this game, you will take part in the reconstruction of the city.
You will have to manage your expenses as best you can while showing magnificence, knowing that your victory points will be based on your achievements. Be careful, however, not to let poverty ruin your efforts... This game is almost entirely a card game. These are divided into three decks to make you relive, as faithfully as possible, the events of History. You will place your constructions on a line exposed in front of you, on the table. The cards, thus spread out in your construction area, will give you various advantages, such as money, victory points or a reduction in poverty. Most of the cards will have an effect when you restore your city. Money is important, since you will have to buy cards and land.
You will earn money according to the cards spread out in front of you when you restore your city. If you are short of money, nothing prevents you from taking out a loan. Investing in London will allow you to earn even more cards and reduce the impact of poverty on your city (with more land, you reduce overpopulation). The board is divided into areas called "boroughs". For each borough, its purchase cost, the number of cards you draw and the number of Victory Points scored at the end of the game are indicated. The place where you buy land is not to be neglected since the effect of certain cards depends on the boroughs you own. Managing poverty is a huge problem. You often increase it by restoring the city. You can reduce it thanks to the effect of certain cards spread out in your construction area. The game will end when the last deck of cards is used up. You will then count your victory points. These will be obtained through your building markers placed in the districts, the cards spread out in your construction area (even the covered ones) and the money still in your possession. You will lose Victory Points for the poverty you have not managed and the loans taken out.
