About...
The Book of Rituals is filled with puzzles set in the well-known universe of the Escape Tales game series. While solving the tasks presented in the book, players take on the role of discoverers of secret knowledge. Each task will reveal the secrets of alchemical elements and ingredients, finally allowing them to perform various magical rituals. In total, 45 tasks of various formulas and types await players, from the least complex to the complex multi-stage puzzles.
The topics covered in the book refer directly to the events of the Escape Tales series. Although knowledge of the games is not necessary to solve the puzzles, experienced players will find flavors and references to the stories of the series here. Important characters from the games, such as Samuel from The Awakening or heroes from Children of Wyrmwoods. These characters become secondary heroes in The Book of Rituals, who, just like the players, have delved into the secrets of the book. For better or for worse...
Solving the puzzles is done using a free application that does not require installation on devices and works on both mobile devices and computers. It is mainly used to check the answers, but also provides hints for the puzzles. What is characteristic of Escape Tales products is that players are not judged or punished for using the clues. Since the overall goal is player satisfaction, the application is designed to help them, not judge them.
The Book of Rituals is a breath of fresh air in the mystery book market. It stands out from the competition with a formula that encourages and sometimes forces players to explore the book in whatever order they want — there is no single path from puzzle to puzzle. The mechanics have been designed so that players who get stuck on one task can freely solve others and come back with new ideas or use hints without feeling like they are losing. Thanks to the creative use of the app, the book can also surprise players.
