Description: Cheating Moth VF
In Cheating Moth (Mito), you want to get rid of all the cards in your hand before anyone else, by classic methods or by cheating!
Each player begins the game with a hand of eight cards, with one player (the oldest) receiving the guard bug – which remains on the table throughout the game – and one card turned over to create a discard pile. The cards are numbered from 1 to 5, with the majority of them only having numbers; Some cards have special abilities that come into play when added to the discard pile or in a player's hand.
During a turn, a player places a card from her hand on the discard pile; This card must be numbered exactly one higher or lower than the card at the top of the discard pile. (The numbers are looped, so a 1 can be played on a 5 and vice versa.) If a player cannot play a card, they draw one from the deck and their turn ends.
There is, however, another way to get rid of cards: cheating! Throughout the round, you can make cards disappear by dropping them on the ground, hiding them in your sleeve, etc. You must keep your hand of cards above the table at all times, you cannot lose more than one card at a time and you cannot get rid of your last card this way. The player with the guard bug - and only him! - can call other players for cheating, and no one can cheat while the accusation is resolved. If the accusation was false, the guard must draw a card; otherwise, the cheating player takes back the card she tried to lose, receives a card from the guard's hand as additional punishment, and becomes the new guard.
Cheating is a necessity because "Cheat Moth" cards cannot be played on the discard pile, but must disappear via cheating. (However, the guard can play these cards because she is not allowed to cheat.)
