British Colour Standard - Wooden Candleholder Medium Brick Dust

The discovery of an old colour dictionary in a second hand shop re-launched this long forgotten brand, first established in 1931. A treasure trove of colour and steeped in history, the book was used to standardize colours across the British Empire until the late 1950s. The names are derived and inspired from nature, flora & fauna, as well as semi-precious stones and spices. Scanned and digitalized, these colours and names formed the foundation of the new British Colour Standard® homeware & gift collection

• Handmade of mango wood, using offcuts from the furniture industy. A sustainable material, mango is replanted about every 5 years when trees finish productive fruiting, ensuring a continuous supply
• All colours are matched to the archival, historic swatches from the original British Colour Standard book. The candleholders have a PU surface coating to protect the paint & ensure reduced flammability
• Display 'tone on tone' with the bottom ring of the striped or solid candle matching the holder, or 'mix and match' for a contrasting, more eclectic look
