British Colour Standard - Woven Jute Round Placemat Jet Black

The discovery of an old colour dictionary in a second hand shop re-launched this long forgotten brand, first established in 1931. A treasure trove of colour and steeped in history, the book was used to standardize colours across the British Empire until the late 1950s. The names are derived and inspired from nature, flora & fauna, as well as semi-precious stones and spices. Scanned and digitalized, these colours and names formed the foundation of the new British Colour Standard homeware & gift collection

• Our jute is sustainably grown and harvested in Bangladesh by a small, fair trade company. For this natural collection, fibres are less finely spun to create a more textural finish
