Gold at the end of the tracks!

No mercy, no possible alliance: between the wagons, on the roof, bullets fly; the outlaws are wounded. The Marshall patrols the train and thwarts the bandits' plans. He is an additional danger in this crazy endeavor.

In Colt Express, players embody "desperado" bandits attacking a passenger train.

Who will earn the title of Quick-Draw Ace at the end of the game? Who will have the biggest loot?

Each has their own personality, but ultimately, all have but one goal: to amass the biggest treasure for themselves by robbing passengers before the train reaches the station.

Gameplay

A game consists of 5 rounds.

In each round, there are two game phases:

  • programming actions on a common card pile
  • executing the action cards played in the first phase

An Event card drawn at the beginning of each round indicates the number of turns played during the first phase, as well as how the Action cards will be played.

Possible actions are:

Move

Move your pawn one wagon inside the train, or one to three wagons on the roof

Change Floor
Go up to the roof or down into the wagon

Punch
Make a bandit move back from their wagon to an adjacent wagon, and make them lose one loot

Shoot

Give a bullet card to a bandit in an adjacent wagon or in line of sight on the roof

Steal

Take a loot from the train

Move the Marshal

Move the Marshal one wagon. If he encounters a bandit, the latter receives a neutral bullet card

Wounds

When a bandit is wounded by another bandit or by the Marshal, the player receives a Wound card which they add to their action card deck. These Wound cards are "dead" cards that will hinder them as they dilute their hand.

End of game

Everyone counts their loot. The bandit who wounded their opponents the most becomes the Quick-Draw Ace and wins an additional $1,000. The richest is declared the winner.
