Winter and Summer clash to reign supreme over the forest!
Under the constant threat of fires caused by Onibi, each season must use strategies to achieve one of the 4 victory conditions first and thus save the forest.

The forest is once again in peril, but Summer and Winter are there to defend it with the valuable help of the guardian animals.
In Living Forest Duel, two players face off as the spirits of Summer and Winter, each seeking to save the sacred forest and be recognized as its ultimate protector. Although their goal is similar, only one season will win the honors, so think carefully about your strategies.
Gameplay
The game unfolds in several alternating turns. In each turn, choose one of the following two options:
- Reveal 1 Guardian Animal card from the common deck to form the common aid line
- Use 1 Action token on a Guardian Animal card from the common aid line
Reveal a Guardian Animal card
Draw a card from the common deck and place it face up on one of the three aid lines:
- the common aid line if it's a neutral animal
- yours if it's an animal of your season
- the opponent's line if it's an animal of their season
Each animal brings elements that you can use later with one of your two Action tokens.
Beware: do not reveal too many solitary animals. After 3 solitary symbols, you lose an Action token, which will greatly reduce your possibilities for action.
The Solitary and Gregarious symbols, present on some cards, cancel each other out.
The Summer and Winter symbols, present on some cards, indicate which season this card belongs to.
Use an Action token
Place one of your Action tokens on a card to point to the last element corresponding to the action you wish to perform. Take into account all elements of this type visible from the beginning of the common aid line OR from the last Action token pointing to this element.
Possible Actions
Recruit one or more Guardian Animals
Extinguish the fire by collecting one or more Fire tokens
Plant one or more Trees
Move the Onibi silhouette towards your opponent
End of turn
When Winter and Summer have played or lost their 2 Action tokens, the turn ends.
Then count the value of the visible Fires in the Clearing: each Fire token takes the value corresponding to its position. Then count your water value. If the fire value of the Clearing is strictly greater than your water value, add a Fire Monitor card of your season to the common discard pile for each Fire token present in the Clearing.
Then, place a token on each of the two cards located on either side of Onibi.
Take back your two Action tokens in front of you and discard all cards from the aid line as well as those from your personal lines into the common discard pile.
